United Pakistan Front (UPF) are hosting "Faiz's Inspiration for the Youth of Pakistan" and would welcome you all to attend this event. The event will be held on 23rd November 2011 between 18:30 – 20:30 at the UCL Archaeology Lecture Theatre, 31-34 Gordon Square, WC1H 0PY London, UK.

Faiz Ahmed Faiz (1911 – 1984) was a Pakistani poet and journalist, whose political ideology provided modern Urdu verse an unprecedented political and romantic expression. Faiz was a torchbearer of the glorious traditions set by great Urdu poets such as Ghalib and Iqbal. Faiz distinguished himself as a proponent of a revolutionary vision, which blended the romance of classical Urdu poetry with the idealism of revolutionary struggles. As Pakistan continues to struggle with extremism, Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s vision of a socially just and plural Pakistan remains valid even today. In this event we aim to accomplish that the poetic and political legacy of Faiz are reiterated and disseminated to the younger generation of Pakistan fittingly.

The speakers include Shahid Syed (Faiz Cultural Academy), Khawja Shahed Hussain (Published Faiz's collection of poetry 'Saray Sukhan Hamaray'), Iftikhar Malik (Professor based in Bath University), Saqlain Imam (BBC broadcaster), Rukhsana Ahmed (Writer & translator) and Aamer Hussein (Lecturer based in Southampton University). The talk will be followed by an open Q&A session with the speakers.
